Normal drivers do not even know exactly how far they can get on their full tank of gas, hypermilers know how many miles you can do and they are always trying their best to make sure they do more. They have some tips that they follow so that they make sure the car goes further on the same amount of gas. Driving cars barefooted however, is one practice that has raised many eyebrows.
Their explanation for why they do this is actually quite simple; with no socks or shoes they have a better feel of their pedals and can thus gradually change speeds. It is always advised by car manufactures that we should change speeds gradually if we want to be fuel efficient. Removing your shoes simply helps with this.
There are some people however who say that barefoot driving may be illegal depending on which state you are driving in and therefore should be avoided at all costs.
The thing is however that even the things that other drivers do out of common sense, hypermilers do not do. Legal is just a relative term to them.
Just to get those few extra miles there are some practices that hypermilers employ, some true some false. For instance, if they know that they have to drive at 80 miles per hour to save fuel they will even though the speed limit is 70.
There is no law however in all the 50 states that say you cannot drive without any shoes on. There are actually some shoes, like high heels, that significantly decrease your driving performance. This is why hypermilers choose to go at it barefoot.
It is your choice whether you believe it a good practice or not.
Contact a car accident attorney should you be injured in an accident cause by poor footwear.

Many people have been in a minor auto accident or ‘fender bender’ at some point in their driving lives. This is very common. It is best to have auto insurance so a minor accident does not become a major deal.
If you find yourself in your first car accident, you may get stressed and do the wrong thing, or forget to gather information. You should know what to do in an accident before you get into an accident.
The first thing to remember in a minor accident without injuries is to move the cars out of the road. This is very important especially if you had your fender bender in an intersection.
If you leave your cars in the intersection, you may actually cause more accidents or even injuries. Make sure to turn on your car’s hazard lights before you move the vehicle, though, to warn other drivers.
The second thing to remember is that you need to call the police. In some areas, police will show at even minor accidents and write up an accident report, while in other areas there must be injuries for police to come to the scene. Regardless, call the police and see if they will send someone. Having an accident report can make filing a claim with your auto insurance much easier.
It’s critical that you exchange information with the other driver. You should get each other’s name, phone number, insurance carrier, policy number, drivers license number, and license plate number. It’s a good idea to take down details about the car too like year, color, make and model.
No matter what you do, do not admit fault or apologize to the other driver. It is not up to you to determine who was at fault, even if you suspect it was you. The police will determine who caused the accident.
If you have a camera or camera phone, get out and take some pictures of the vehicles. Try to get shots of both, including the damage done, and get a few shots of the cars’ position in relation to each other. Then when you leave the scene of the accident, call your insurance company and report the accident and provide all of the relevant details they request.

Car insurance for women is well known to provide some great deals, but are women really better drivers than men? The truth is that they aren’t, but statistics show that women make fewer, less expensive claims than men do. Women also generally drive less miles, which is known to drive down insurance prices. In short, as long as the care insurance companies feel they are less likely to pay out for female drivers, they will over lower premiums.
How to Choose Cheap Car Insurance for Women
All insurers are different when it comes to their prices. There are no fixed rules for women’s car insurance, and terms will vary depending on whether you opt for comprehensive policies or not. Prices will vary depending on the level of coverage you are looking for, and not all insurers will even offer special rates for women.
Women’s car insurance is also seeing a growing trend for certain add-ons. For example, many insurers now offer coverage for items such as purses (and their contents), should they be stolen from the vehicle.
It’s also important to remember that simply being female doesn’t guarantee any low prices or extras. Your history and circumstances will always be taken into account, as with any standard car insurance policy. And, like all insurance policies, younger women (just like younger men) may find it more difficult to get cheap car insurance for women due to a lack of experience.
Men Can Even Benefit From Cheap Female Insurance Deals
Men don’t usually realize how much they could benefit from cheap car insurance for women, but it is possible. For example, adding a female as an additional driver to a current policy can help to bring costs down. And, if sharing a car with a female relative, getting them to take out a policy and adding you as a named driver could even work out cheaper than getting your own cover.
Car insurance for women can be a fantastic way of reducing insurance costs, even for men! All it takes is a little research and comparison to find a policy that suits you.
Want to save yourself money and effort when it comes to finding car insurance for woman? If you want to get the best deal, you have to compare what’s out there, so take a look at over to Car Insurance for Women to see how much you could save.

Many Americans spend a great deal of money when they purchase a car. Mainly this is because they finance their purchase.
When you borrow money to buy something that loses value, this is a bad idea. And nearly all cars do lose value over time.
A car is conveyance, meant to get you from place to place. And pretty much all cars depreciate. It’s not smart to pay interest on something that is worth less and less, you end up wasting money. Follow these rules instead to make a wise purchase the next time you need a car:
Don’t finance. You are probably going to want more car than you can afford. At car dealerships, there is a loan officer there ready to help us get this car anyhow.
Our purchase gets mixed up with emotion, because we often become very attached to cars and want a nice one that we think will show us in a good light. Loan officers know this. Often, loan terms are harsh with high interest and bad terms. At the end of the financing period you’ve spent far more on the car than what the original sale price was.
No leasing. If you wanted to buy a house, you wouldn’t rent an apartment instead would you? It would still give you a place to live, but would be a waste of money. Leasing a car is just renting a car, but over a period of years rather than days or weeks. The dealership will also add cost to the leasing agreement to cover the damage they expect you’ll do to the car.
It’s a bad bet. You pay top dollar, for a car and for damage you may not even do to it, and in the end you have nothing to show for your money.
Don’t get a new car. A car that is new sells for a hefty premium just by virtue of not being preowned. This value – the ‘newness’ – disappears the moment that you buy the car. It can never again be sold as new. This is why the car depreciates the very moment you drive it off the lot. You’re losing value before you even get your new purchase home.
